Protect Your Hearing With ABR Testing
At Villa Rica Ear, Nose & Throat, we offer a wide range of medical services that are designed to protect your hearing by diagnosing and treating conditions that may affect it. Our ABR (auditory brainstem response) testing is ideal for children or others who are unable to complete a typical hearing screening.
Your ear is made up of three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear, and the inner ear. The auditory brainstem response test tells us how the inner ear, (called the cochlea) and the brain pathways for hearing are working. You may also hear this test called an auditory evoked potential (AEP).
If you have hearing issues, you may be a candidate for ABR testing. Please call us to schedule your appointment.
How the ABR Is Done
Our audiologist places electrodes on your head and connects them to a computer. They record brain wave activity in response to sounds heard through earphones. These tests require you to be sleeping or resting quietly.
Prompt Analysis of the Results
When the test is complete, our audiologist will report the results to the physician. The physician will go over your results with you and determine the best next steps. If a child has been tested, we'll explain the test results to the child's parent or guardian during this appointment.
